Since incorporation, we have received several awards in recognition of our services and products.

We were awarded second highest net profit company in 2001/2002 2001/2002 and highest net profit company for both 2002/2003 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 2003/2004 in the SME 500 ranking organised by DP Information Network Pte Ltd. This is an independent ranking initiative aimed at profiling Singapore's best performing small and medium enterprises.

In addition, we were ranked 8th and 5th in the Enterprise 50 ranking for 2002 and 2003, respectively. The Enterprise 50 ranking is a showcase of the best privately-owned home-grown companies organised by Accenture and The Business Times and supported by the Economic Development Board and International Enterprise Singapore.

In July 2003, SMC was ranked in the 2003 China's Top 500 Chemical Enterprises. This ranking was compiled and organized by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, China Chemical Enterprise Management Association, and China Chemical Industry Information Association.

SMC was ranked 39th in the cohort of top 100 chemical companies with the best performance in terms of pre-tax profit margin, and ranked 14th in the cohort of top 50 chemical companies in the dyestuff category.

To streamline and rationalise the corporate structure of our Group and in connection with the listing of our Company, we undertook a Restructuring Exercise. We were converted into a public company on 22 December 2003 and changed our name to Matex International Limited to better reflect the global nature of our business and our conversion into a public limited company.
